At STEMLab, your child will get hands-on experience with the most advanced educational coding, robotics, and engineering kits – the same tools used in international classrooms to create the tech leaders of tomorrow.

If your child enjoys the Holiday Camp, you’ll have the option to enroll in our full After-School Program, available at both Tygervalley and Claremont campuses, or join our Online Support Program, where expert coding educators (far beyond the classroom level) assist with school coding subjects throughout the year.

Programme Overview
Day 1: Introduction to Design and 3D Printing
- 09h00 - 10h30: Welcome and Icebreaker Activity Introduction to design thinking and STEM concepts. Icebreaker activities to get learners comfortable
- 10h30 - 11h00: Introduction to Tinkercad Basic overview of Tinkercad: how to create simple 3D designs.
- 11h00 - 12h30: Hands-on with Tinkercad Learners will create their first 3D object and experiment with different shapes and forms.
- 12h30 - 13h00: Lunch Break
- 13h00 - 14h30: Intro to 3D Printing Introduction to how 3D printers’ work. A live demonstration of printing a simple object.
- 14h30 - 16h00: Printing Your Designs Learners will finalize their Tinkercad designs, and some designs will be printed to take home
Day 2: Robotics and Coding (Part 1)
- 09h00 - 10h30: Introduction to Robotics Overview of robotics and the 6-in-1 Evolution Robot. Explanation of different robot configurations.
- 10h30 - 12h30: Assembling the Robot Learners will follow a step-by-step guide to assemble their robots in pairs or small groups.
- 12h30 - 13h00: Lunch Break
- 13h00 - 14h30: Introduction to Coding for Robotics Learners will be introduced to the basics of coding, focusing on how to control their robots.
- 14h30 - 16h00: Programming the Robot Hands-on coding session to make robots perform simple tasks (e.g., moving forward, turning).
Day 3: Robotics and Coding (Part 2)
- 09h00 - 10h30: Advanced Robot Functions Introduction to advanced functions: sensors, obstacle detection, and more complex movements.
- 10h30 - 12h30: Coding Challenges Learners will be tasked with completing specific coding challenges to make their robots complete various tasks.
- 12h30 - 13h00: Lunch Break
- 13h00 - 14h30: Teamwork Session Learners will work in teams to modify their robots for a group challenge on Day 4.
- 14h30 - 16h00: Test and Debugging Teams will test their robots and troubleshoot any issues in preparation for the final challenge.
Day 4: Group Challenge Day
- 09h00 - 10h30: Review of the Week’s Learnings Brief review of all concepts covered: design, 3D printing, robotics, and coding.
- 10h30 - 12h30: Group Challenge Task Teams will compete to complete a specific challenge using their robots. Example: Create a robot that can navigate through a maze or complete an obstacle course.
- 12h30 - 13h00: Lunch Break
- 13h00 - 15h00: Final Challenge Presentation Teams will present their robot designs and demonstrate how it completes the challenge.
- 15h00 - 16h00: Awards and Closing Awards ceremony for the best designs and teamwork. Closing remarks and handing out of certificates.

The camp runs from Monday to Friday, starting each day at 08h00 and ending at 16h30.
The camp is designed for learners aged 8 to 15.
The camp covers 3D design using Tinkercad, 3D printing, coding, and robotics (using the Weeemake 6-in-1 Evolution robot), as well as wind turbine technology and renewable energy concepts.
No, learners must pack their own lunch and refreshments.
- R500 per day .
- If you register at the STEMlab Academy for 2025 (registration fee R1000), the STEM Holiday Camp is free.
Yes, on Wednesday, there is a wind farm excursion where learners will visit a working wind farm and learn about renewable energy.
Your child should bring a packed lunch, refreshments, and a bottle of water. Comfortable clothing and sunscreen are recommended for the wind farm excursion.
