At STEMLab, your child will get hands-on experience with the most advanced educational coding, robotics, and engineering kits – the same tools used in international classrooms to create the tech leaders of tomorrow.

If your child enjoys the Holiday Camp, you’ll have the option to enroll in our full After-School Program, available at both Tygervalley and Claremont campuses, or join our Online Support Program, where expert coding educators (far beyond the classroom level) assist with school coding subjects throughout the year.

Programme Overview
This camp schedule provides a balanced mix of engineering, robotics, and hands-on building, enriched by the wind farm excursion to contextualize renewable energy principles.
Day 1 Engineering Fundamentals & Tinkercad
- 09h00 - 10h30: Introduction to Engineering Concepts (forces, materials, structures)
- 10h30 - 11h00: Break
- 11h00 - 12h30: Tinkercad Design Workshop (introduction to digital design, creating basic 3D models)
- 12h30 - 13h30: Lunch Break
- 13h30 - 15h30: Hands-On Activity: Build a Simple Structure (bridge or tower) using various materials to apply engineering principles
Day 2 Robotics & Coding
- 09h00 - 10h30: Basics of Robotics (sensors, motors, and control systems)
- 10h30 - 11h00: Break
- 11h00 - 12h30: Coding Workshop for Robotics (using block-based or entry-level coding for robot movement)
- 12h30 - 13h30: Lunch Break
- 13h30 - 15h30: Robotics Challenge: Build and Program a Robot to Complete a Simple Task
Day 3 : Wind Farm Excursion

09h00 - 15h30: Field Trip to an Energy Farm
*Morning: Guided Tour of the Wind Farm (learn about wind energy, turbine mechanics, and sustainable energy).
* Afternoon: Q&A with wind farm engineers, hands-on demo of wind turbine technology, and observation of wind-to-energy transformation.
Day 4 : structural Engineering & Final Challenge
- 09h00 - 10h30: Recap of Engineering and Robotics Skills (applying concepts to a group challenge)
- 10h30 - 11h00: Break
- 11h00 - 12h30: Group Activity: Design and Build a Model Wind Turbine in Tinkercad
- 12h30 - 13h30: Lunch Break
- 13h30 - 15h30: Final Challenge: Teams present their model turbines, testing them for stability and functionality

The camp runs from Monday to Friday, starting each day at 08h00 and ending at 16h30.
The camp is designed for learners aged 8 to 15.
The camp covers 3D design using Tinkercad, 3D printing, coding, and robotics (using the Weeemake 6-in-1 Evolution robot), as well as wind turbine technology and renewable energy concepts.
No, learners must pack their own lunch and refreshments.
- R500 per day .
- If you register at the STEMlab Academy for 2025 (registration fee R1000), the STEM Holiday Camp is free.
Yes, on Wednesday, there is a wind farm excursion where learners will visit a working wind farm and learn about renewable energy.
Your child should bring a packed lunch, refreshments, and a bottle of water. Comfortable clothing and sunscreen are recommended for the wind farm excursion.
